Macklin is a town in the Rural Municipality of Eye Hill No. 382, sitting on Highway 14 and Highway 31 about 5 kilometres east of the Alberta border. It lies near one of the most productive oil and natural gas fields in the province.
South of town on the shore of Macklin Lake is Macklin Lake Regional Park, founded in 1962 on land donated by the RM of Eye Hill. It offers a campground with 164 sites, a beach, ball diamonds, a trout pond stocked with rainbow trout, hiking trails and a playground. The Macklin Lakeview Golf Club, a nine-hole grass greens course, opened there in 1990.
Macklin is also known as the home of the annual Bunnock World Championship, when the town's population doubles in size. Cyclist Jeremy Hunt, painter Agnes Martin and hockey player Cole Reschny are among the people associated with the town.
